Opportunities for Technology Development in North Africa
After years of conflict and turmoil, the level of technology in the Arabic-speaking countries of North Africa is now in the spotlight due to insufficient focus on technology and start-up development.
Speaking with Appsafrica.com, Hasan Haider, Head of 500 Startups Middle East and North Africa, shared how 500 Startups is actively seeking investment in the next two years in 100-200 startups in the Middle East and North Africa with the potential of 20-30 investments per year in North Africa.
Haider sees North Africa as a very “interesting growth market with over 50% of the region’s population under 25”. In general, the Arabic-speaking part of North Africa is quite promising and 500 Startups is already investing in four enterprises in Egypt.
