EU Framework Program for Science and Innovation 2014-2020 "Horizon 2020"

The European Commission has officially announced the new Horizon 2020 program, which is the new main vehicle for funding research and innovation in the EU for the period 2014-2020.

The Horizon 2020 program is a key instrument for the creation of the Innovation Union and brings together all existing EU research and innovation funding programs, including FP7, the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework and programs of the European Institute of Innovation and

Technology. The priority technologies are highly efficient eco-, bio -, nano- and information technologies aimed at solving social and global problems (“green” energy, transport, climate change and population aging).

The Horizon 2020 program has a number of new benefits, including:

  • Significantly simplified funding by simplifying the program structure, developing one set of rules, reducing bureaucratic red tape with simple cost recovery schemes, introducing a “one-stop shop” for participants, reducing paperwork in preparing proposals, reducing the number of reviews and audits to reduce the average time to receive grant up to 100 days;
  • providing great opportunities for new participants and young promising scientists to promote their ideas and receive funding;
  • integrating research and innovation by ensuring seamless and consistent funding from idea to market.

Horizon 2020 continues to apply the principle of general openness by providing mutual access to the program to third countries for which general principles of participation have been established. To evaluate applications in the Horizon 2020 program, a special database has been created, in which scientists from all over the world can register.

Attention! If you are already registered in a similar database for FP7, you need to update your profile and, possibly, adjust the scientific fields in accordance with the structure of the Horizon 2020 program.
