Alexander Lukashenko approved the State Program of Innovative Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020

The state program of innovative development of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020 was approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated January 31, 2017 No. No. 31.

The goal of the program is to ensure high-quality growth and competitiveness of the national economy with the concentration of resources on the formation of its high-tech sectors based on the production of V and VI technological orders.

The implementation of the program is aimed at solving the following tasks:

  • the formation and accelerated development of high-tech sectors of the national economy, consolidation of the republic’s position in the markets for high-tech products;
  • ensuring the competitiveness of traditional sectors of the national economy based on their innovative development and the introduction of advanced technologies;
  • development and improvement of the functioning of the national innovation system based on the formation of a market for scientific and technical products and a favorable environment for the implementation of innovative activities.

To implement this goal, 75 projects are aimed at creating new industries that are of decisive importance for the innovative development of Belarus, in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, construction, petrochemistry, medicine and pharmacy, energy, transport, agriculture. It is planned that by 2020 more than 70 highly profitable export-oriented industries and about 9 thousand new jobs will be created, the press service of the Head of State reports.

In accordance with the Decree, new projects may be included in the program every year in agreement with the President of the Republic of Belarus. 

The decree comes into force after its official publication and extends its effect to relations that arose from January 1, 2016.
