Award Ceremony for Outstanding Inventions and Industrial Designs in China

On December 26, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Awards ceremony for the best Chinese patents for inventions and industrial designs was held in Beijing. A total of 20 inventions and utility models, as well as 5 industrial designs, were awarded the China Patent Gold Award. In addition, 568 inventions and utility models as well as 65 industrial designs have won the China Patent Excellence Award.

The awards were presented by the SIPO Commissioner and the Deputy Director of WIPO. Special recognition was given to patent holders and inventors who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, use, protection and management of intellectual property rights, as well as contributed to the development of innovation, the economy and the social sphere.

Since 1989, when SIPO and WIPO jointly launched the awarding project, China has experienced explosive growth in the economic, social and intellectual spheres. According to statistics, 120 patents have been awarded the China Patent Gold Award over the past 12th five-year period, projects have achieved sales of 622.1 billion yuan with a profit of 131.7 billion yuan. The prize plays a positive role in promoting innovation and increasing the value of intellectual property.
