In 2008, the Canadian government established the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Scholarships (Vanier CGS). The aim of the program is to attract talented postgraduate students from around the world, to present Canada as a world center of research and higher education. The scholarship is intended for postgraduate students who conduct research in the humanities, natural sciences, engineering and health care.

The size of the scholarship. Each fellow will receive $50,000 a year.

Requirements:

  • Scholarships can be awarded to canadian citizens as well as international students;
  • a Candidate must study for the first time in a postgraduate course and receive a Ph.D. for the first time;
  • A PhD should be obtained in the summer months or during the next school year;
  • On May 1, 2018, a candidate must study at graduate school for no more than 20 months;
  • requires excellent academic performance during the last two years of study.

There are two ways to get a scholarship:

  • The student informs the university representatives that he has intentions to receive the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships;
  • the university informs the student that he will be nominated for a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.

The application for a scholarship must be submitted by the university.
