SUPERHARD AMORPHNONANOCRYSTALLINE COMPOSITES BASED ON NANOCARBON WITH IRON ADDITIVE SINTERED AT HIGH PRESSURE
Description of the project: New ultra-lightweight, isotropically high-hard boron-carbon amorphous-nanocrystalline composites with high crack resistance and elasticity have been obtained by the method of high-energy consolidation by alloying with boron a composite based on nanocarbon with additions of 10% Fe.
Microhardness of inclusions of superhard particles – up to 100 GPa, amorphous carbon phase-base within 29 … 89 GPa, particles based on Fe-C – 9.2 … 10.8 GPa, which is ~ 1.5 times higher than ordinary iron carbide.
The specific gravity of the C-10% B-10% Fe composite is 2.13 … 2.168 g / cm3.
The obtained C-B-Fe composites can be widely used as wear-resistant, abrasive and structural materials.
Advantages: The technology allows changing the structure of the formed material in a wide range, combining high hardness, wear resistance and cutting ability of the tool. This allows you to create fundamentally new tool materials with unique properties.
The composites were obtained using inexpensive nanocarbon materials – fullerene soot, extracted fullerene soot, which makes them promising for industrial development.
