MTS announces the start of the Telecom Idea BY MTS 2016 hackathon
On May 27-30, Minsk will host an event for young developers, programmers and startups. The hackathon “Telecom Idea BYMTS 2016” is held by the international telecommunications operator MTS in cooperation with the Russian “Center for the Commercialization of Innovations”.
The goal of the hackathon is to assist young Belarusian specialists and their teams in the development and approach to the market requirements of their IT and telecom projects. To do this, the event organizers involve MTS experts from the Belarusian and Russian offices of the company, as well as experts from partner companies, who are ready to acquaint project teams with current trends, realities of the technology business and existing market needs, to work with projects.
The main prize of the hackathon, as in 2015, will be a ticket to the finals of the international competition Telecom Idea (www.telecomideas.com), the winners of which will have a chance to go on an introductory Telecom tour to one foreign country.
The rest of the hackathon participants will also not be left without support: they will have a unique opportunity to work out their project with strong industry experts, show the development to potential clients, partners and the media, get important contacts, feedback, prizes and gifts from the organizers and partners of the event.
On the way to victory, startup teams will have to make prototypes and working versions of products and services together with invited experts and mentors for three days, from Friday to Sunday, to research their performance and practical industry application, to work out a business concept of a project, to defend it in front of an authoritative jury.
The hackathon will be moderated and the project teams will be mentored by specialists from the Center for the Commercialization of Innovations, Russian and Belarusian MTS, who will be assisted by mentors from Belarusian partner organizations. Young innovators will be supported by representatives of the Hi-Tech Park, the HTP IT Academy, BSTU, BSUIR, BNTU, BSU, BSEU, Imaguru and other organizations and partner companies of the hackathon.
Key representatives of these companies, as well as of the organizing companies, will be members of the jury. They will select the best of the best based on the results of the hackathon.
The hackathon “Telecom Idea BY MTS 2016” will be held within the walls of IMAGURU at 4 Fabritiusa street. It is a trendy and comfortable platform for collaboration, which has successfully hosted similar events for startups on several occasions. It was in IMAGURU that the successful history of the MSQRD project began a year ago.
The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners “Telecom Idea BY MTS 2016” will take place on May 30 at the MTS office at the address: Minsk, Independence Avenue, 95.

The open industry competition Telecom Idea is organized by Mobile TeleSystems (MTS PJSC) and has been held since 2011 in Russia, Armenia, and Ukraine. In 2015, Belarus joined the international movement. The finalists of the MTS Minsk hackathon were among the winners of Telecom Idea and went on a business trip to Israel.
The competition is aimed at finding, supporting and promoting innovative youth projects to the market, involving the use of information and communication technologies in commercial, social and government spheres and contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of society.
